first day of practice yesterday, pretty pleased. had a team meeting beforehand, went over paperwork, goals, expectations. heard some good things from the players. couple goofballs on the team (probably what i was like) but nothing that will be a problem. went for a 4 mileish run, pretty slow pace. most of the kids kept up no problem. let them go early.
today, we are going to warmup, stretch, go for another 3.5-4 miler, come back, stretch it out, throw the frisbar a bit, warm-up lap on the track and then miracle mile. jog curves, hard run the straights. think it will be a good practice.
i went running with the kids yesterday. pretty simple run, wasn't out of breath at all. after they finished, went to the track and ran 6x80 sprints and then did 3x10 squat jumps. feeling stronger. really looking forward to being faster. i can do it.
eating pretty well, happy overall. april 1st, no beer until after tryouts.

dust in the wind
got home on friday and didn't go for a run. kind of wished i had, but i didn't eat too much and felt ok. rationalized it even more by using it as an opportunity to rest my foot.
went for a good, hard 3.5 miler on saturday, threw around a bit, did my 3x10 squat jumps, and stretched. felt good.
got really hydrated saturday night and struggled through sunday, no run.

new developments for the club season, have to focus even more, make myself a commodity. have to think long-term, think of the grind, and push myself to another level.

how to save a life
didn't go running yesterday, went to indoor. wasn't too bad. didn't feel too fast. really need to start working on my stopping, starting, changing directions. need to get quicker. still going to keep focusing on interval/tempo runs and sprints for now. really think next week a track will be cleared and i will be able to start tracks workouts once a week, plus plyos.
did my 3x10 squat jumps. quick stretch.

dude, you're getting a dell
step back to tuesday.
went for a run. 3 miles that hurt way more than it should have. started out with some active stretching hippy stuff. did 5x70 sprints. did the 3 miles. came back and did 7x50 sprints, 3x10 squat jumps and full stretching. legs actually felt good, tired but good, the rest of the evening and the next day.
went to tryouts after. kids are working hard, really impressive. my team is going to be dominant.
yesterday, went for a 3.5 mile run. felt better than the day before. bit of a tempo run. lot of uphill and downhill stuff. was able to end strong. did 5x50 sprints. quick leg stretching and then off to tryouts again.
today, last day of tryouts. they are running a 1.5 mile timed run. looking forward to seeing how fast these kids will run.
tonight, heading to indoor, i think. seemed like the plan yesterday. i hope it doesn't suck as bad.
really want to be in good shape. i think i might be seeing some changes in my body, maybe a little bit thinner. not sure. gots to keep eating healthy and keep working hard.

spring foreplay
running. running. tough run yesterday. first day back after a 3 day rest. felt rusty, tired. was planning on a 5.3 mile route, switched it up mid-run to make it a little easier, ended up doing about 5.2. not a bad distance, kept me moving for awhile. my legs felt weak. didn't get to out of breath, but my legs hurt. i don't like that. going to start stretching a little bit before running, doing some sprints, going for a 1/2 hourish run, and then doing a few more sprints. i need to get faster.
tryouts went well. lots to watch, lots to take in. i got very excited to see how good some of the players were. should be a lot of fun and a very competitive team.
dinner was just a grilled cheese sandwich and a half-can of soup. delicious.
ate well yesterday, let's keep it a habit.

break the ice
took some time off, from writing and running.
thursday i went to indoor but didn't run. my back was still kind of tweaked and my foot felt weird. indoor wasn't as good as weeks past, certain persons participating. i got a good workout in, did 3x10 squat jumps. had some taco bell on the way home, didn't eat dinner, so it worked out.
friday i had no school. lounged about, got some stuff ready for job applications, want to send that out by the end of the week. i took the day off from running. i don't want my foot to get worse. some friends came down for friday night. had a blizzard of sorts. enjoyed wings and tuskers.
saturday, slept in. went out to lunch, bill was covered by a very good man. not me. decided to take the day off from running again, foot was feeling better. went to the better half's parents' house for awhile. st. patrick's day stuff. ate way too much. sunday was spent sleeping, movie, basketball, movie, dinner, movie. pretty good, relaxing day. last day off my foot.
feeling good today. little tired, but my foot is in a much better place. back is still kind of tight, but not as bad as before.
looking forward to a 5-miler today. nice and sunny, little cold, but no complaints here. i would like to run at around a 6:40 - 6:20 pace. very possible. not going to tempo or fartlek at all, steady. do one of those tomorrow. some hills this week, more sprints tied in.
no more primetime, so most of my workouts can actually happen with daylight. good stuff.
rolled my ankle thursday, almost completely healed now. relief.

bobby knight
felt tired yesterday. don't really like it, but that's life. wanted to just stay on the couch, but i got up and went running. 2 miles warmup, quick break and started hills. wanted to do 5, only could do 3. felt pretty nauseaus. really gross. going to go back on friday and try again. want to do 5. i feel strong in all my other workouts, frustrating.
had cereal for breakfast. black beans, salad, apple, carrot, celery for lunch. had a granola bar in the afternoon. been doing well at drinking water. also had a piece of pizza before dinner. went to grammy's for dinner. had a lot of corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and beets. some pie for dessert. got owned in sequence, but was able to squeak out a skipbo win.
can't decide on indoor tonight. foot is still acting weird, but i want to get a double workout in. choices, choices, choices. looking forward to a day off tomorrow. relax, get some work done and just cool out.

my humps
Ate a lot of food yesterday. Breakfast was granola and yogurt. Lunch was black beans, salad, celery and carrots, kashii bar, apple. I think that sounds about right. Dinner was chicken, stuffing, and corn. Had a good amount of water.
Went running after primetime. About 5.5 miles. Pretty easy pace, pushed it by the end. Didn’t really get out of breath, but my legs are not as strong as I would like. Did 3x10 squat jumps and then 5x50 yard sprints. Stretched the legs out and headed home.
Weird muscle pull it feels like in the side of my right foot. I will keep an eye on that, wrap it every other day. Back feels a lot better, not sure what was up with that.

lips of an angel
took monday off. went shopping for food after work and didn't home until late. felt pretty exhausted so i took it easy. back on the horse today. i also need to do my 3x10 squat jumps today, i want to stay in the routine of doing those 3 times a week before moving on to more plyo work.
goal today is to about 5 miles, little bit longer than what i would do at home. going to stay on campus after primetime.
definitely hitting a second wall. january i didn't really hit one, but february had me feeling tired for a few days. this has lasted about 5 days now, just feeling drained. that's why i think a 5 miler is in order. keep me moving a little bit extra, try and push at the end. might go running with zoodisc again tomorrow, see what their workout is going to be. would like to get a hill workout in this week, we'll see. initially had hoped to get a wednesday track workout, but without a track it's tough. also, with the plyo workout this past week, i don't know if it would be as effective. we'll see. next monday tryouts start. good luck gentlemen.

moonday
on friday, i didn't go for a run, but i went to boyden from 10-12 and played a little pickup with zoo. that was allright, pretty hectic. went and hung out after and then hit the sack. got up nice and late on saturday, little hazy from night before. went for a 3 mile run, pretty easy pace, little tough to get the cobwebs out.
went out to eat with jgoff and her friend and boyfriend. good time.
sunday morning came way too quickly, especially with daylight savings. went to plyos at curry hicks cage.

double cheeseburger
good, active day yesterday.
went to the spoke, had a few hotdogs and a brewdogger and watched the red sox. good little break. went for a good 3 miler when i got home, stretched it out after. went to indoor. another good 6 v. 6 night. a lot of running around, played some good d, couple good plays. still need to focus on breaks. think about them a little bit more, use them and get comfortable with breaking the mark. work on pivoting, get the mark off balance.
on the way home, stopped by mcdonald's and had a cheeseburger for the first time in awhile. pretty delicious. went to zimmy's after, played a few card games. still need to tone it down when playing games. oops.
today is my rest day, thinking about going for a run anyway and making up for missing tuesday. we'll see how i feel.

grape leaves
really good run/workout yesterday. went and practiced with zoo and ran with zach and misha. beasts. it was an interval run, 7 min. easy, 5 hard, 5 easy, 5 hard, 5 easy, 5 hard, 5 easy, and then finished with about 3 hard. took a lot to keep up and pace with them. nasty run. did about 5.3 in 32 minutes, overall pace of about 6 min. miles. felt good throughout, but also fatigued but able to stick with it.
once we got back, i did 3x10 squat jumps and then 135 situps.
back is sore, needs stretching as the day goes on. trying to stay loose.
went to veracruzana for dinner for timmy's b-day. fish tacos were delicious and have some leftover beans. went to the moan after, had a black label, went home and went to bed.
good workout day, back on track and will get a double workout in today. pretty pumped.

sketchy
didn't run yesterday. not too happy about that, but also not too torn up. it's been tough, i think i am hitting my second wall. really need to think long-term and how this will positively affect me later in the season. if i don't make metal, i will be the rock of whatever team i am on. that is what i am going to need and that is where i must put myself.
need to keep slimming down. again, put myself in the best possible position to reach what i want.

bowl of cereal, 2% percent milk

too many pretzels, 2 apples, smores bar

frosted shredded mini wheats
went for a 3.8ish mile run yesterday. steady pace to start, picked it up a little bit and stayed with it until the end. running at night has become very comfortable, but still a bit weird. depth perception is very skewed and there is still a threat of ice/snow/weird.
after the run, did 3 sets of 10 squat jumps. these will be done 3 days a week and i would like to start a plyo-focused regimen to improve vertical leap and quickness. did my situps and stretching once inside and then ate dinner.
when running, i really need to focus more on not thinking about any pain i am feeling. i want to reach a more relaxed state, but also still be pushing myself. pretty ideal situation. i like where i am going with my ability to push myself to a point of pain and stay there.

first day, first post.
want to start this as another attempt to keep myself motivated to eat better, get into shape, and be less lazy.
doing well so far at the getting into shape. been running on a day-to-day basis and have started to feel results. really need to focus on pushing myself past some first signs of improvement.
eating healthy is f-in tough. not sure how to really stay with it. i try and limit calorie intake and fat content. focusing on food that is high in protein, low in calories and fat/sat. fat. just need to do more research, eat more beans, buy skim milk possibly.
