was a bit of a rest week last week, taking monday, wednesday and thursday off. pretty sure it paid off because i felt fresh on friday and great for our game on saturday.
something i have thought about since i started watching sportscenter happened yesterday. i was featured on top plays. this is probably going to be the only time i write about this, and i am choosing to write about it not to brag, but to point something out.
you always have to be ready, because you never know when you're going to get your shot. the catch itself i actually don't think is that impressive. i have made better catches in the past and have seen countless other highlight grabs that make that catch look mundane, but that was my chance. all the work i have put in to this point, all of the letdowns and heartbreaks, all of the hours sweating and feeling like i wanted to die, the hours of preparation led up to that one 40 yard sprint, and i was ready. it makes me grateful to this sport, that ultimate has given me so many hours of pure joy and intense agony, and on that day, ultimate rewarded me. this blog is a testament to my consistency, the process of never being satisfied and never giving up. this experience has further tightened up my resolve to build a bulletproof body and an unstoppable ultimate player.
my hope is that people see the video and say, well if brent made that catch, i would have caught it easily. i want them to be dumbfounded that i am the one in the clip and not themselves. i can see their smirks and hear their chatter. and it will push me harder.
the chip on my shoulder is still there, and now a bullseye has been added to my back.
